Inspired by the power of our vibrant, determined community, our vision at Amigos de Guadalupe (“Amigos”) is to bring about transformational change in East San José.  At Amigos, we ensure that the basic needs of our community are met, deliver high-quality programs, and mobilize and organize for justice.  We do this by providing housing and rental assistance, mental health services, immigration legal services, education programs, and community organizing programs that advocate for systems change.

 

 

Primary Duties: 

 

The Lead Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the Medi-Cal outreach and enrollment project. The Coordinator will lead all training to the Promotora team to educate the immigrant community in East San Jose about Medi-Cal and enroll individuals into the program. The Lead will supervise Promotora members on a daily basis and mobilize them to key outreach areas in East San Jose, recruit neighborhood captains to host house meetings, and support with warm referrals for enrollment.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise Promotoras to lead outreach on Medi-Cal enrollment in East San Jose
  • Develop a community engagement strategy to ensure outreach team is reaching its goals                                                                                        
  • Lead the implementation of the project, ensuring all aspects run smoothly, while serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Work with Promotoras, and neighborhood captains to recruit and enroll eligible participants and spread awareness of the program.                                                                                                                                   
  • Conduct periodic check-ins with Promotoras to assess goals and outreach strategies                                                                                                                                                              
  • Work with neighborhood captains to host house meetings on Medi-Cal education and enrollment
  • Collaborate with the Organizing Team to design and implement outreach strategies
  • Provide regular reports on program metrics 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in contract and program management.
  • Familiarity with immigrant rights and healthcare access issues.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace; ability to track and report data.
  • Fluent in Spanish required.
  • Commitment to social justice and the mission of Amigos de Guadalupe.
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to supervise and motivate teams while maintaining accountability.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and organizational information.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal enrollment processes and community health systems (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust in diverse communities.
     

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, with occasional evenings and weekends required for community events.
  • Based at Amigos’ main office with frequent fieldwork in the East San José community.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed; valid driver’s license preferred.
     

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking during community outreach and house meetings.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (event materials, outreach supplies).
